- Chenango Trains with new airbags. Several real life scenarios were covered to help the crews to think outside the box.

MVA Front Street
May 05, 2013
- Chenango responded to a MVA on Front street around 14:18 hours. One patient pinned in car. Crews went to work on removing the door and freeing the patient for extraction. Patient was transported to the hospital by the ambulance with minor injuries. C66,C66A,C66B,Squad66,Rescue66 and EMS66 were on the call.

MVA RT81N Mutual Aid to Station 24

- Chenango Fire was dispatched mutual aid assist to Station 24 to Route 81N MM34 for a 1 car rollover MVA w/entrapment. S24 frist arrived on scene reporting patient had been extricated prior to arrival. P24 was handling traffic and S66 continued into the scene to assist with patient care and securing the vehicle.

House Fire

- Chenango Fire, Whitney Point(mutual aid) were dispatched @ 0053 hours to a reported house fire in the T/Barker. Upon arrival of C66C light smoke showing from the exterior of residence, all occupants were out of the residence, The homeowner on scene reported a fire in the bathroom. A successful interior attack was made and the fire was confined to bathroom. Units responded: C66,C66C,P66,T662,E661,T661,P24.
And thanks to Chenango Bridge (Station 39) for handling our MVA rollover on Upper Front St. that was dispatch at the same time.

Tractor Trailer Fire Route 81N
March 13, 2013
- Chenango Fire responds to a reported tractor trailer fire @ 0419 hours this morning on Route 81N MM15 T/Dickinson. Upon arrival of Sheriff Deputy's they confirmed a working fire on the rear wheels of the tractor portion which the driver was able to separate from the trailer that was carrying 7000 gallons of methanol. Units responded were S66,T662,R66,C66.

- Chenango Fire responds to a reported chimney fire this afternoon. Upon arrival of C66C light black smoke showing from chimney and smoke coming from shingles around chimney. P66,T661,FP66,C66,C66C,and P24,C24B (Whitney Point mutual aid) responded. Fire was extinguished and overhaul began, after investigation the fire was contained to chimney.

- Chenango Fire dispatched to a 1 Car MVA, vehicle reported to be on its roof. Upon arrival vehicle was in traffic on its roof and all patients self-extricated. Vehicle left the Route 81S and landed on Route 11 (Castle Creek Road). C66,C66A,C66C,S66,R66 all responded. Chenango Ambulance handle patient care.

2 Car MVA Rollover with Entrapment

- Chenango Fire dispatched @ 1244 hours for a 2 car mva rollover with entrapment. Chief 66C, Rescue 66 responded, Chenango Bridge also dispatched for mutual aid. Chenango Ambulance on the scene confirming entrapment. Once fire units arrived on scene a size up was made and extrication options were determine. Patient was then extricated and turn over to Chenango Ambulance crew for eval. Chenango Bridge was canceled enroute. Scene turned over to Broome County Sheriff's Office.

- Chenango Fire responds to MVA Rollover Route 81N MM15 @ 2153 hours. Chief 66A, Chief 66B,Squad 66 responded. 1 car rolled over six times, self-extricated, Broome Ambulance arrived on the scene and handled patient care. Squad 66 secured the vehicle.

- Chenango Fire was dispatched to a vehicle fire @ 1714 hours; Route 81S just north of Exit 6. Squad 66 was manned with an in house crew (3 green, 1 yellow)and responded within minutes after dispatch. Winter Storm Euclid upon us with snow rates of 1-3 inches an hour made travel difficult. Chief 66A & 66B went responding an were advised by dispatch, it was a working fire. C66B responding northbound confirmed working fire. Tanker 66-1,Tanker 66-2 also responded. Squad 66 arrived on scene and made an aggressive attack. Fire was knocked within minutes and overhaul began, additional crew arrived with Tanker 66-2. C66A & C66B also arrived on scene. Tanker 66-1 cancel and returned do to road conditions.

Route 81N Tractor Trailer - Tank Rupture - Diesel Spill
December 18, 2012
- Chenango Fire was dispatched at 0602 hours to Route 81N MM23 for a Tractor Trailer with ruptured saddle tanks, NYSP on the scene. Chief 66C was the first arriving officer; confirming both saddle tanks leaking. The driver reported to have up to 300 gallons on board. C66C then requested NYSDEC Spill Response to the scene as the tractor trailer was within 60' of a water source (Castle Creek). Squad 66, Rescue 66 went responding. Squad 66 arrived on the scene and began deploying Quik Dry and large absorbant pads. The leak was semi-contained but with the amount leaking and the ground be saturated from an inch of rain overnight it was running down the embankment. Crews began to build dikes to collect the diesel fuel. Rescue 66 arrived and empty there supply or Quik Dry as well. Scene was turned over to NYS DEC Spill Response.

MM 22 Route 81N Rollover with Entrapment
December 17, 2012
- Chenango Fire was toned at 0741 hours for a Tractor Trailer Rollover unknown injuries on Route 81N just north of exit 7 (Castle Creek). C66C was the first to arrive on scene, confirming rollover and that it appeared to be a money truck. While C66C doing a size up a bystander reported a female was entrapped in the rear of the truck,and it was found to be carring SILVER BARS. C66C called for mutual aid Squad Company 24 (Whitney Point. Squad 66, EMS 66, Brush 66-1 responded. Squad 66 arrived on scene and went to work on the entrapped patient using airbags and cribbing. Truck was stablizing using a winch and chain to other vehicles. After approximatly 10 minutes patient was extricated and transported to hospital. Two others patients were in the cab of the vehicle uninjured but unable to get out. Once some wreckage was remove the were able to self-extricate.
